Greetings to all of the hooligans out there who have enjoyed our releases and tripped-out deejay mixes over the years. Great news has come! WAAM co-conspirator, Drew Pompa, has launched a solo mixcloud page that includes nearly 30 mixes spanning his time as a record enthusiast slash deejay. The list of mixes serve as a time capsule for Drew’s evolution in music, from his early years as a techno and house deejay to the beginnings of Aphotic Segment. There is something in here for just about everyone. Whether you’re looking for a dance mix or a psyched-out session or a little funk, world, and hip hop, Drew’s got your back! Check out his list of mixes at the mixcloud page below. If you like what you hear, feel free to drop a line to – weareallmachines [dot] us [at] gmail [dot] com

Drew’s Mixcloud Page Full of Delights

For right now, we’ve embedded part one of Drew’s farwell mix from Katoi in Detroit this past December. Keep your eyes peeled for part two in the next month or so. Keep it easy…. wasn’t easy!

Aphotic Segment / Drew Pompa’s Going Away Party

December 14, 2016 at 7:31 pm

Hello Friends! I cordially invite you to this special edition of Aphotic Segment, as I curate a night of music in celebration of my send off to Philadelphia. It has been nearly 10 years since I have landed in Detroit and now I’m opening a new chapter of adventures.

Detroit has been a very amazing experience for me. The boundless amount of friendships that I have forged, the outpouring of support that is intrinsic to the essence of this city, and the talented and creative reservoir of artists / musicians that it develops will be heavily missed. I would be eternally grateful if you would join me for one of my last evening’s in town. For those of you who I will not see, I wish you and your families a very happy holiday!

Aphotic Segment w/ PRC

September 15, 2016 at 5:05 pm

Aphotic Segment is back on the spot and at the turn of seasons, so it’s time for a change of mind and a change of vibe. More music, more production, more discipline and charging full speed towards all of those lofty goals we promised ourselves at the beginning of the year. There’s only a little time left.

This month will be the first time since July that both residents will be back in the rotation and joining them for a night of records will be PRC. The group’s output can be mainly extracted from the experimental Detroit label, Irrationaltentent where they release saturated fuzz-induced noise / punk music that is both captivating and startling at the same time. These gents will be assembling a diverse collection of records for the evening’s rotation so be sure to join us and welcoming them for their first guest appearance at AS. No cover, per usual!

Aphotic Segment w/ Rawaat

August 30, 2016 at 8:58 pm

We return with another edition of Aphotic Segment for the month of September, after quite a damn performance from this past month’s guests. Keeping in mind our programming of the best in Detroit’s music community, we happy to announce the return of our dear friend Abdallah a.k.a. Rawaat.

Rawaat has become a young and rising talent over the past couple of years releasing a bouquet of tapes and digital albums on his homegrown label, Crisis Urbana. He caught the attention of London based, Lobster Theremin in 2014, where he released his acclaimed Day Laborer EP laced with a juicy Huerco S remix to boot. Rawaat many influences span well beyond the zone of his own music productions yet he’s able to obtain a unique Detroit perspective in the way he presents his music collection. There’s no telling what kind of cacophony he’ll have in store, but we like to keep it that way. Joining Rawaat will be resident deejay Drew Pompa.
