Aphotic Segment w/ Rawaat

August 30, 2016 at 8:58 pm

We return with another edition of Aphotic Segment for the month of September, after quite a damn performance from this past month’s guests. Keeping in mind our programming of the best in Detroit’s music community, we happy to announce the return of our dear friend Abdallah a.k.a. Rawaat.

Rawaat has become a young and rising talent over the past couple of years releasing a bouquet of tapes and digital albums on his homegrown label, Crisis Urbana. He caught the attention of London based, Lobster Theremin in 2014, where he released his acclaimed Day Laborer EP laced with a juicy Huerco S remix to boot. Rawaat many influences span well beyond the zone of his own music productions yet he’s able to obtain a unique Detroit perspective in the way he presents his music collection. There’s no telling what kind of cacophony he’ll have in store, but we like to keep it that way. Joining Rawaat will be resident deejay Drew Pompa.

Aphotic Segment w/ Walter Wasacz + Special Guests

August 1, 2016 at 1:23 pm

Hello friends….. we are pleased to announce our latest installment of Aphotic Segment with good friend, Walter Wasacz. Perhaps you’ve saddled up to the bar at Katoi next to this wise gent and engaged in a romantic story about Detroit while sharing a bahn mi…. or perhaps not (although you’re missing out on one of the finest story tellers in the land).

Walter has influence that runs deep, whether it’s his stories about seeing David Bowie and Roxy Music for the first time. Whether it’s how he introduced us to psych rock and the new range of bands that encompass those leanings – think Toy and Total Control – or whether it’s first love affair with electronic music via the city of Detroit. This man always has a story to share and his record collection reflects this in such an astute manner. We’re always super pumped to have him out!

This month, residents Soren and Drew Pompa are taking the side lines and in their place are two very special guests. One of these guests will be debuting a performance for Aphotic Segment. The other….. well, we’re sure you’ve had a pineapple sheik or two with this weirdo (he also makes music with one of the residents, just a hint). Nonetheless, it should be a rager of mammoth proportions. Alyways free, always key!

Leafar Legov (Giegling) – Live @ Katoi

April 23, 2016 at 7:00 pm

En Route Productions and the Detroit Ambient Cartel are proud to present Leafar Legov in his first solo performance in Detroit. The last time was in 2014 as one half of Kettenkarussell, while touring their expansive Easy Listening LP. They delivered a legendary underground performance for the die-hard heads, and we are so glad to have him back and hear what he’s been up to.

So far 2016 is off to a good start with the Talk EP on Giegling, performances at Berghain/Panorama Bar, and a US tour including The Bunker NYC and Smart Bar.
